Be It Resolved that this day, Thursday, May 31st, 2007, Communities Under Siege-United Against the Globalization of Big Tobacco bring together brothers and sisters of the African Diaspora to unite and stand together to defend our communities worldwide against the predatory activity of multi-national tobacco companies.
Let it be known that we collectively
1) Denounce the predatory activities of the Tobacco Industry in Africa.
2) Demand that the U.S. Master Settlement Agreement (MSA) standards be observed in international marketing efforts.
3) Support the U.S. Congress ratification of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) and
4) Denounce the acceptance of Tobacco Industry sponsorship in the San Francisco Bay area, we pledge not to accept tobacco industry dollars and we ask our community organizations, churches, elected officials and media not to accept said sponsorship either.
